SUMMER 2021   CELEBRATING A GREAT SUMMER

  SUMMER 2021

   CELEBRATING A GREAT SUMMER

You will find in this Post  a full version of the form quyen (kataVO HA, The Summer, please see the attached pictures (taken in Italy, 2010).

This important form VO HA consists of four exercises

1-KHAI MOC, Exploring The Forest

2-HOA SEN , The Lotus Flower

3-SANG SONG, Crossing The River

4-RONG NUOC, The Water Dragon

SYMBOLS and WISDOMS for these four exercises.

1- KHAI MOC , The Forest

In this form the forest symbolizes the source of vitality. From time to time it would be very beneficial for us to put aside all worrisome issues of life and stay quietly for a moment under some large trees. Mother Nature will help us to recover our strength and lucidity. The forest also symbolizes the immensity of knowledge; reading a good book is likely exploring a forest of knowledge. Reading good book must be part of our habits.

2-HOA SEN - The Lotus Flower.

The Lotus Flower in this form, is a symbol of Purity and Beauty. We keep this notion in mind and apply it to whatever we do: thinking, acting, working, caring our body and keeping our belongings.

3-SANG SONG - Crossing the River.

This exercise has been inspired by the last paragraph of the Heart Sutra (Prajnaparamita Hrdaya Sutra/Bat Nha Tam Kinh) which is a mantra in Sanskrit, as follows:

Gate, gate, paragate, parasamgate. Bodhi Svaha

For the context of this exercise SANG SONG (Crossing The River) at his teaching sessions in 2010 Master Phan Hoang gave the following meaning to this mantra:

“Ending all sufferings, arriving to the shore of Enlightenment”

However, beyond the context of this exercise in Vietchidao, it is advisable to the reader to refer to various translations from serious authors in order to know more about this mantra under different circumstances.

(CONZE) Gone, gone, gone beyond, gone altogether beyond, O what an awakening, all-hail

(DONALD S. LOPEZ, Jr,)  Gone, gone, gone beyond, gone completely beyond, enlightenment

(THICH NHAT HANH, 2014) the Insight that Brings Us to the Other Shore

(LOK SANG HO) Transcend, Transcend, Transcend beyond all, Transcend completely, Awaken! Let this be!

(HARISCHANDRA KAVIRATNA) Gone, gone, gone beyond, gone altogether beyond (to the other shore)! O enlightenment! Be it so!

(DALAI  LAMA) Go, go, go beyond, go totally beyond, be rooted in the ground of enlightenment.

4-RONG NUOC - The Water Dragon.

According to an ancient myth, the Vietnamese people are descended from a dragon lord (Lac Long Quan) and an immortal mountain fairy (Au-Co). The dragon is symbolic of the emperor and the power of the nation. It could bring protection to the people and water for agriculture.

It could have five versions of dragon: the Iron Dragon, the Wood Dragon, the Water Dragon, the Fire Dragon, and the Earth Dragon.
